Evaluación de la densidad óptima para el cultivo de los juveniles

    Abstract

    El presente estudio evaluó la densidad óptima de siembra para el cultivo de juveniles de Pangasius hypothalamus en la Finca Experimental Taboga de la Universidad Técnica Nacional, ubicada en Cañas, Costa Rica. Se utilizó un diseño experimental completamente al azar con cuatro tratamientos: 50, 100, 150 y 200 peces/m³, cada uno con tres repeticiones, durante un periodo de 130 días. Se analizaron indicadores productivos como peso promedio, tasa de crecimiento real, tasa de crecimiento específico, factor de conversión alimenticia, producción neta, sobrevivencia, calidad del agua y costo de producción. Los resultados mostraron que las densidades más bajas favorecieron el crecimiento individual, con mayores pesos finales y mejores tasas de crecimiento. Sin embargo, las densidades más altas generaron mayor biomasa total por unidad de volumen. El factor de conversión alimenticia y el costo por kilogramo producido tendieron a aumentar en la densidad de 200 peces/m³, lo que indica una menor eficiencia económica y alimenticia. La calidad del agua se mantuvo dentro de rangos adecuados durante el ensayo. En conjunto, los resultados sugieren que las densidades intermedias de 100 y 150 peces/m³ representan el mejor equilibrio entre crecimiento, producción total, eficiencia alimenticia y rentabilidad bajo las condiciones evaluadas.
